Molar distalization with bimetric molar distalization arches.
Journal of Marmara University Dental Faculty, 1998The aim of this study was to observe the clinical and cephalometric effects of intra-oral distalization with the maxillary bimetric arches. 3 girls and 1 boy with a mean age of 13.5 years with Class II skeletal and dental relationship were selected. Care was taken to select patients having a normal vertical growth pattern.

The use of magnets to move molars distally
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1989Repelling magnets, which were anchored to a modified Nance appliance cemented on the first premolars, were activated against the maxillary first molars to move them distally. Eighty percent of the space created represented distal movement of the first molars.

Molar distalization with the Herbst appliance
Seminars in Orthodontics, 2000Abstract This article reviews the dental effects of the Herbst appliance as well as itslong-term effects on the dentition. The Herbst appliance exhibits a pronounced high-pull headgear effect on the maxillary molars. Without retention, the molars tend to return to their former anteroposterior positions after the removal of the appliance.
