AbstractBlood plasma substitutes, such as dextran and hydroxyethyl starch, cause an expansion of the liquid volume in blood vessels due to their high colloid‐osmotic pressure and water‐binding potential, and are therefore applied clinically as so‐called plasma expanders for rapidly increasing the liquid volume.

Fast Track to Molar‐Mass Distributions of Technical Lignins
ChemSusChem, 2017AbstractTechnical lignins (waste products obtained from wood pulping or biorefinery processes) have so far required lengthy analysis procedures and different eluents for molar‐mass analysis by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). This challenge has become more pressing recently since attempts to utilize lignins have increased, leading to skyrocketing ...

Molar mass distribution and solubility modeling of asphaltenes
AIChE Journal, 1996AbstractAttempts to model asphaltene solubility with Scatchard‐Hildebrand theory were hampered by uncertainty in molar volume and solubility parameter distribution within the asphaltenes. By considering asphaltenes as a series of polyaromatic hydrocarbons with randomly distributed associated functional groups, molar volume and solubility parameter ...

Elongational Viscosity of Narrow Molar Mass Distribution Polystyrene
Macromolecules, 2003Transient and steady elongational viscosity has been measured for two narrow molar mass distribution polystyrene melts of molar masses 200 000 and 390 000 by means of a filament stretching rheometer. Total Hencky strains of about five have been obtained. The transient elongational viscosity rises above the linear viscoelastic prediction at intermediate

Molar mass distributions of end‐linked polystyrene star macromolecules
Polymer International, 1997Polystyrene three-arm star molecules with OH tips were prepared by living anionic polymerization using an acetal-protected lithium initiator followed by coupling with 1,3,5-triallyl-oxy-2,4,6-triazine and ensuing cleavage of the acetol groups. The functionalized star molecules were end-crosslinked by toluene-2,4-diisocyanate.

AbstractThe first part of this publication dealt with the effect of synthesis conditions on short and long‐chain branching of low density polyethylene; this second part reports on the effect on the molar mass, the molar mass distribution and the polydispersity that can be determined from these parameters.

Determining molar mass distribution of polypropylene by temperature precipitation
Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1985Abstract Methods are proposed for determining MD of polypropylene by temperature precipitation. Conditions of temperature fractionation in a O solvent were established experimentally and confirmed theoretically; constants were calculated for the conversion of temperature distribution to molar mass distribution.

Analysis and molar mass distribution of polyoxyethylene 4-alkylphenylamines
Journal of Chromatography A, 1989Abstract Polyoxyethylene 4-alkylphenylamines having from 1 to 16 carbon atoms in their alkyl groups and average degrees of ethoxylation from 1 to 8 were analyzed by gas chromatography and distribution coefficients were computed Successive homologues having different numbers of oxyethylene groups were separated according to their increasing molar ...

Molar mass distributions by gradient liquid chromatography: predicting and tailoring selectivity
Journal of Chromatography A, 2005Interactive liquid chromatography (iLC) for polymer analysis is usually applied to the characterisation of distributions other than molar mass. In particular, its use for the determination of chemical-composition, functionality-type and tacticity distributions has been demonstrated.

Determination of molar mass distribution of poly(tetrafluoroethylene)
Makromolekulare Chemie. Macromolecular Symposia, 1992AbstractHigh‐temperature static and dynamic laser light scattering characterization of polytetrafluoroethylene in perfluorotetracosane has been accomplished after solving the following experimental difficulties: (1) constructing a high‐temperature laser light scattering spectrometer which can be operated at a temperature as high as 340 °C, (2 ...
