The adsorption of Cu-phthalocyanine (CuPc) molecules on Au-modified Ge(001) surfaces has been studied with low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. The Au-modified Ge(001) surface consists of well-ordered arrays of perfectly straight nanowires, which are separated by 1.6 nm wide and about 0.6 nm deep trenches.

Concept of a Molecular System, Molecular Unit, and Molecular Material
1999All materials have their own intrinsic function which might be useful for human society. In most materials, it is usually their bulk properties which are utilized. The concept of a molecular system is derived from the understanding that the functionality of materials is based on the properties of their component molecules.

Molecular tools for molecular ecologists
2017This chapter explores the molecular tools used in studying molecular ecology. It explains genetic manipulation in terms of molecular ecology. The chapter explains the process of protein and DNA extraction from tissue samples. It also lists the non-PCR-based tools for studying genetic variations such as restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP ...

From molecular computing to molecular programming
2001The purpose of this article is to survey the research in molecular computing, including the achievements of the Japanese Molecular Computer Project, and foresee the future of the field. In addition to describing the major achievements of the project, Suyama's Dynamic Programming Molecular Computer and Sakamoto's Hairpin Engines, we summarize the ...

Summary: The theory distinguishing the molecular chirality in the optical transition is presented. The characteristic combination responsible for this transition is the angular momentum of molecule and the magnetic field produced by photons. The amplitude is so small estimated \(v/c\) times that of the dipole transition. The specified model employed is

From Molecular Characterization to Molecular Manufacturing and Molecular Electronics
1995Advances on the preparation techniques and on the fundamental properties of LB films allow organic materials to be transferred one after another from a water surface into solid substrates to form monolayers. Recent advances in designing supermoleculecular aggregates by manipulating biomolecules and monolayer packages has proven the feasibility to ...
