Molecular Clouds in External Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1985
Observations of the large-scale distribution of molecular clouds in external galaxies offer a unique opportunity for investigating galactic evolution. New generations of stars form in these dense regions, and the most massive of these stars recycle their processed interiors into the interstellar medium.

Poly(1,4‐anthraquinone) as an Organic Electrode Material: Interplay of the Electronic and Structural Properties due to the Unusual Lone‐Pair‐π Conjugation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
In this study, the unique role of the unusual lone‐pair‐π conjugation mechanism in poly(1,4‐anthraquinone) (P14AQ) is explored as an organic electrode material. Unlike traditional π‐π interactions, P14AQ's conjugation involves lone pairs of oxygen atoms interacting with the π cloud of adjacent units, enabling stable charge transport even with minimal π‐

The Correlation Between Dust and Gas Contents in Molecular Clouds

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Molecular clouds are regions of dense gas and dust in space where new stars and planets are born. There is a strong correlation between the distribution of dust and molecular gas in molecular clouds.

Variation in XCO Factor in N55 Region

open access: yesUniverse
The XCO factor is defined as XCO=N(H2)/W12CO. It is useful for estimating cloud mass. However, there is only limited research on how the XCO factor varies within a single cloud.

Analysis of Hydrogen Cyanide Hyperfine Spectral Components towards Star Forming Cores

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2011
Although hydrogen cyanide has become quite a common molecular tracing species for a variety of astrophysical sources, it, however, exhibits dramatic non-LTE behaviour in its hyperfine line structure.

Molecular Lines of 13 Galactic Infrared Bubble Regions

open access: yes, 2016
We investigated the physical properties of molecular clouds and star formation processes around infrared bubbles which are essentially expanding HII regions. We performed observations of 13 galactic infrared bubble fields containing 18 bubbles.

Molecular clouds have power-law probability distribution functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this Letter we investigate the shape of the probability distribution of column densities (PDF) in molecular clouds. Through the use of low-noise, extinction-calibrated \textit{Herschel}/\textit{Planck} emission data for eight molecular clouds, we ...

The approach to collapse of molecular clouds [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2009
The dense molecular cloud cores that form stars, like other self-gravitating objects, undergo bulk oscillations. Just at the point of gravitational instability, their fundamental oscillation mode has zero frequency. We study, using perturbation theory, the evolution of a spherical cloud that possesses such a frozen mode.

Aperture Synthesis Observations of CO, HCN, and 89GHz Continuum Emission toward NGC 604 in M 33: Sequential Star Formation Induced by Supergiant Hii region

open access: yes, 2010
We present the results from new Nobeyama Millimeter Array observations of CO(1-0), HCN(1-0), and 89-GHz continuum emissions toward NGC 604, known as the supergiant H ii region in a nearby galaxy M 33.
