Real time vibronic coupling dynamics in organic conjugated systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In this work we show the potentialities of applying impulsive coherent vibrational spectroscopy to conjugated systems relevant for applications. We studied films of sexithiophene, a candidate for large area molecular electronics, poly-phenylene vinylene,

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Fabrication of molecular nanoscale junctions with a junction area of 7 × 7 nm2 and their structural and electrical properties

open access: yesDiscover Nano
Molecular electronics has received considerable attention because molecular devices can provide several unique properties, such as giant magnetoresistance, a large Seebeck effect, and nonvolatile switching properties.

Measuring Single-Molecule Conductance at An Ultra-Low Molecular Concentration in Vacuum

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
We report on systematic investigation of single-molecule detection mechanisms in break junction experiments in vacuum. We found molecular feature in the conductance traces at an extremely low concentration of molecules of 10 nM.

Intermolecular Effect in Molecular Electronics

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate the effects of lateral interactions on the conductance of two molecules connected in parallel to semi-infinite leads. The method we use combines a Green function approach to quantum transport with density functional theory for the ...

Micro systems technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The emerging field of Micro Systems Technology is described. Micro Systems Technology can be seen as the meeting of disciplines, a product of convergence along different lines.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Towards molecular electronics with large-area molecular junctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Electronic transport through single molecules has been studied extensively by academic(1-8) and industrial(9,10) research groups. Discrete tunnel junctions, or molecular diodes, have been reported using scanning probes(11,12), break junctions(13,14 ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Solvent-mediated conductance increase of dodecanethiol-stabilized gold nanoparticle monolayers

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2016
Gold nanoparticle monolayers provide convenient templates to study charge transport in organic molecules beyond single junction techniques. Conductance is reported to increase by several orders of magnitude following immersion of alkanethiol-stabilized ...
