Recent advances in molecular ferroelectrics

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2021
Abstract Due to their structural flexibility, tunability and easy processing, molecular ferroelectric materials have emerged to complement the well-known ferroelectric perovskite oxides. A number of compounds have been investigated but, with the exception of polymeric polyvinylidene fluoride, most have not succeeded in achieving their ...

Spontaneous self-formation of molecular ferroelectric heterostructures

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2021
A new phase of diisopropylammonium perchlorate (DIPAP) forms during freeze-drying or heat treatment, which generates the heterostructure with its original ferroelectric phase.

The First Molecular Ferroelectric Mott Insulator

Advanced Materials
Abstract With the discovery of colossal magnetoresistance materials and high‐temperature superconductors, Mott insulators can potentially undergo a transition from insulating state to metallic state. Here, in molecular ferroelectrics system, a Mott insulator of (C 7 H

The pressure dependence of the ferroelectric mode and molecular vibrations of the ferroelectric arsenates

Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1977
Light scattering measurements are reported of the pressure dependence (0-8 kbar), at 295K, of all the Raman-active modes of vibration in RbH2AsO4 and of the coupled-mode spectra for the B2-symmetry phonons in KH2AsO4, RbH2AsO4, CsH2AsO4 and their deuterated isomorphs.

Electronic ferroelectricity in molecular organic crystals

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2014
Electronic ferroelectricity in molecular organic crystals is reviewed from a theoretical perspective. In particular, we focus on the charge-driven-type electronic ferroelectricity where electronic charge order without inversion symmetry induces a spontaneous electric polarization in quarter-filling systems. Two necessary conditions to realize this type

Effect of Molecular Structure of Core on Ferroelectricity in Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1988
By using various couples of ferroelectric liquid crystals with molecular structures which were only different in the core center in each couple, the effect of the bond moment C=O at the center of core on ferroelectricity could be studied. The bond moment C=O at the center of the core was found to enhance the spontaneous polarization except for one ...

Optimization of the Photoresponse in a Molecular Ferroelectric

Zeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie
Molecular ferroelectrics bear significant potential for applications, in particular if they can be stimulated by light. One strategy to design molecular photoferroelectrics consists of combining organic cations with a photosensitive unit, such as a molecular photoswitch. The recently reported (DMA)(PIP)[Fe(CN) 5

Ferroelectricity in molecular solids: a review of electrodynamic properties

Reports on Progress in Physics, 2015
In conventional ferroelectrics the polarization is induced either by the relative displacement of positive and negative ions due to a lattice distortion or by the collective alignment of permanent electric dipoles. Strongly correlated materials with the inversion-symmetry-broken ground states feature electronic ferroelectricity, a phenomenon which has ...
