Cold Molecular Gas in Merger Remnants. II. The Properties of Dense Molecular Gas [PDF]
Abstract We present the 3 mm wavelength spectra of 28 local galaxy merger remnants obtained with the Large Millimeter Telescope. Sixteen molecular lines from 14 different molecular species and isotopologues were identified, and 21 out of 28 sources were detected in one or more molecular lines. On average, the line ratios of the dense gas

The mass of molecular gas in an interstellar cloud is often measured using line emission from low rotational levels of CO, which are sensitive to the CO mass, and then scaling to the assumed molecular hydrogen H_2 mass. However, a significant H_2 mass may lie outside the CO region, in the outer regions of the molecular cloud where the gas phase carbon ...

Molecular gas in NGC 6946 [PDF]
We present imaging of molecular gas emission in the star-forming spiral galaxy NGC6946. Our CO(1-0) and CO(3-2) images, made at 22" resolution with the IRAM 30-m and the Heinrich Hertz 10-m radio telescopes, are the most extensive CO observations of this galaxy and are among the most extensive observations of molecular gas in any spiral galaxy.

Molecular gas in the galaxy M 83 [PDF]
We present CO(1-0) and CO(2-1) Swedish-ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST) observations of the barred spiral galaxy M83 (NGC5236). The maps cover the entire optical disk. The CO emission is strongly peaked toward the nucleus, which breaks up into two separate components in the CO(2-1) data due to the higher spatial resolution.

Masers: Precision probes of molecular gas [PDF]
Maser emission from water, methanol, silicon monoxide and other molecules can reach brightness temperatures ≫1010 K. Such observations can achieve sub-pc precision for discs around black holes or sub-au scale interactions in protostellar discs and the regions where evolved star winds reach escape velocity.

Thermal Processes in Molecular Gas [PDF]
The dynamics of the cold atomic and molecular gas, on which we focus here, is strongly affected by non equilibrium heating and cooling processes. We give two different examples, in which the breaking of the thermal balance is due respectively to variations of the incident ultraviolet radiation flux, and non equilibrium abundances ...

Molecular thermodynamics of gas solubility [PDF]
A molecular-thermodynamic model has been established for the solubilities of gases in non-polar and polar solvents and in aqueous solutions of electrolytes. To obtain an expression for the Helmholtz energy of the mixture, the pure components are first mixed isothermally to form an ideal gas mixture.

Molecular Gas Phase Conformational Ensembles
Accurately determining molecular structures' lowest energy states is crucial for fields like drug design and materials science. Conformational search engines, like Auto3D and RDKit, are valuable tools for this. We evaluate their effectiveness alongside CREST and Balloon, using collisional cross section data to validate.
