Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Molecular free path distribution in rarefied gases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present the results of investigations into the distribution of molecular free paths in rarefied gases using molecular dynamics simulations. Our tests on a range of different gas densities and confinements (unbounded, single bounding wall and parallel ...

Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

THE PYROCARBON FORMATION MECHANISM DURING THE HYDROCARBON PYROLYSIS PROCESS

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2017
Experimental results confirming the mechanism of pyrocarbon formation through the steps of high-molecular pyrolysis products forming in the gas phase are presented.

Study on Relative Electrical Strength of SF6 Substitute Gas Based on Density Functional Theory

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In order to achieve the goal of “double carbon” as soon as possible, SF6 substitute gas is more environmentally friendly and applied in electrical equipment.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Gas phase constant pressure heat capacities (C~p,gas~) for the C~1~ through C~10~ straight chain alkanes, isobutane, hydrogen atom, hydroxyl and methyl radicals, and water between 298.15 and 1500 K: A comparison of theoretical values against experimental data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Gas phase constant pressure heat capacities (C~p,gas~) for the C~1~ through C~10~ straight chain alkanes, isobutane, hydrogen atom, hydroxyl and methyl radicals, and water were calculated between 298.15 and 1500 K using various low (semiempirical PM6 ...

A search for cold molecular outflows in cosmic-noon galaxies

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
The flow of baryons in and out of galaxies is the primary driver for galaxy evolution – inflows bring fresh gas to galaxies that will eventually compress into molecular gas to form stars, and outflows entrain processed gas outside of galaxies.

Quantum Control of Molecular Gas Hydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesCLEO: 2014, 2014
We demonstrate that strong impulsive gas heating or heating suppression at standard temperature and pressure can occur from coherent rotational excitation or de-excitation of molecular gases using a sequence of non-ionizing laser pulses. For the case of excitation, subsequent collisional decoherence of the ensemble leads to gas heating significantly ...
