It has been almost 25 years since the first report of the gene encoding a high-affinity phosphate transporter (PT), PHO84, in yeast. Since then, an increasing number of yeast PHO84 homologs as well as other genes encoding proteins with phosphate (Pi ...

Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Molecular mechanism for transcriptional regulation of the parathyroid hormone gene by Epiprofin
Epiprofin (Epfn), an Sp/KLF family transcription factor that regulates cell proliferation and determines cell fates, is essential for normal skin, hair follicle, and tooth development. We found that Epfn was expressed in parathyroid glands, and Epfn ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Iron and Gene Expression: Molecular Mechanisms Regulating Cellular Iron Homeostasis [PDF]
In recent years, specific post-transcriptional mechanisms in the cytoplasm of vertebrate cells have been elucidated that directly affect the stability and translation of mRNAs coding for central proteins in iron metabolism. This review shall focus primarily on these mechanisms.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Summary: The “Fetal Origins of Adult Disease (FOAD)” hypothesis holds that adverse factors during pregnancy can increase the risk of chronic diseases in offspring. Here, we investigated the effects of prenatal hypoxia (PH) on brain structure and function
