Polyvalent Carbocyanine Molecular Beacons for Molecular Recognitions

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2004
Polyvalent carboxylate-terminating near-infrared (NIR) carbocyanine molecular beacons were prepared by homologation of reactive carboxyl groups of the beacon with imino diacetic acid. Their conjugation with unprotected d-(+)-glucosamine gave dendritic arrays of the carbohydrate on an inner NIR chromophore core.

Complexity in molecular recognition

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2011
The anomer selectivity of artificial carbohydrate receptors was studied using in silico methods in order to shed light on the thermodynamic driving forces at work during molecular recognition in general. The contributions of relevant intermolecular hydrogen bonds were investigated by means of generalized compliance constants in order to dissect ...

DNA–psoralens molecular recognition using molecular dynamics

Il Farmaco, 1999
Furocoumarins are an important class of compounds for photochemotherapy used in the treatment of numerous diseases characterised by hyperproliferative conditions. Their photosensitising activity has been related to the ability to form covalent linkage with the pyrimidine bases of DNA upon UV-A irradiation.

Molecular Assembly and Molecular Recognition

1995
The use of molecular design for optimised molecular recognition and self-assembly for improved materials for chemical sensing is discussed. Peripheral substitution of phthalocyanines by alkyl, alkoxy, or crownether groups promotes self-assembly and provides control of local polarisability, optimising charge-transfer interaction energies for rapid ...
