Theory of Molecular Rydberg States
2011Molecular Rydberg states have many unusual properties, lending themselves to a diverse range of experimental applications. This book is designed to unravel the mysteries of molecular Rydberg states that lie beyond the scope of accepted spectroscopic theories.

Molecular rydberg states. Azulene and 4,6,8-trimethylazulene
Chemical Physics Letters, 1979Abstract The absorption spectra of azulene and 4,6,8-trimethylazulene are reported in the 1100–2200 A region. Two d-Rydberg series, both terminal on the first ionization potential I (I), are assigned. The lack of structure beyond the I (I) limit is attributed to autoionization events.

Rydberg States and Scattering States of Molecular Electrons: e–H2+
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968A general method is presented for obtaining a model potential for calculation of Rydberg states and ionized states of an electron in a diatomic (or more complex) molecule. The potential is derived from a known wavefunction for the ionic molecule core by expanding the charge distribution, including the fixed-position nuclei, in spherical harmonics ...

Rotational-state-selective field ionization of molecular Rydberg states
Physical Review A, 2007This paper presents state-selective field ionization spectra of highly excited Rydberg states of NO. The competition between electron-nuclear coupling and electron-field coupling is investigated and it is shown that the slew rate of the electric field can be exploited to control the rotational quantum state composition of field-ionized molecules.

Multiphoton probing of molecular Rydberg states
Molecular Physics, 1986This feature article provides an overview of the additional insights that multiphoton excitation methods are providing to our understanding of the spectroscopy and the photophysics of some of the higher excited electronic states of gas phase molecular species.

Solvent effects on molecular rydberg states: the B 1Σu state of molecular hydrogen in helium
Chemical Physics Letters, 1983Abstract Supermolecule calculations at the SCF level are reported for the excited B 1Σu state of the complex H2(He)6 for regular and randomised environments of the hydrogen molecule. Whilst marked blue-shifts are observed in the simulated matrix environment, randomisation of the surrounding helium atoms causes the transition energy to fall to a value

Polarization labelling spectroscopy of molecular Li2 rydberg states
Zeitschrift für Physik D Atoms, Molecules and Clusters, 1987A series ofnd δ1Δg Rydberg states of the Li2 molecule has been measured using the polarization labelling technique. The experimental term values and the quantum defects derived from them, are compared with theoretical values obtained from ab initio calculations. The different physical effects contributing to the quantum defects are discussed.

Rydberg states of Li2 and molecular constants of Li+2
Chemical Physics Letters, 1982Abstract A Rydberg series of excited electronic states of 7 Li 2 has been characterized by pulsed optical—optical double resonance spectroscopy. Molecular constants of these states have been extrapolated to give the ionization potential of 7 Li 2 and molecular constants of the X 2 Σ + g state of 7 Li + 2 .

Use of Model Potentials in the Study of Molecular Rydberg States
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968In this paper we investigate the applicability of simple model potentials containing adjustable parameters to the description of molecular Rydberg states. Qualitative criteria for the selection of appropriate potentials are discussed and the results of numerical calculations relevant to the Πu3 states of H2, the Σu1(2Σgcore) states of N2, and some ...
