2-Amino-3-methylpyridinium 4-methoxybenzoate

open access: yesIUCrData, 2016
In the title molecular salt, C6H9N2+·C8H7O3−, the cation is protonated at its pyridine N atom and is inclined by 3.39 (9)° to the benzene ring of the anion, which is deprotonated at the carboxyl group.

Bis(2-amino-6-methylpyridinium) 3-nitrobenzene-1,2-dicarboxylate

open access: yesIUCrData, 2016
In the title molecular salt, 2C6H9N2+·C8H3NO62−, the cations are protonated at their pyridine N atoms. The cations and anion are linked by N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds and a π–π interaction [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.7299 (13) Å].

Molecular Dynamics Study of Charged Dendrimers in Salt-Free Solution: Effect of Counterions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers, being protonated under physiological conditions, represent a promising class of nonviral, nano-sized vectors for drug and gene delivery. We performed extensive molecular dynamics simulations of a generic model dendrimer

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

trans-2,5-Dimethylpiperazine-1,4-diium bis(perchlorate) dihydrate: crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2016
The asymmetric unit of the title hydrated molecular salt, C6H16N22+·2ClO4−·2H2O, contains a half dication (completed by inversion symmetry), a perchlorate anion and a water molecule.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
