Reconstruction of molecular phylogeny of extant hominoids from DNA sequence data
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1991AbstractEvolutionary distance matrices of the extant hominoids are computed from DNA sequence data, and hominoid DNA phylogenies are reconstructed by applying the neighbor‐joining method to these distance matrices. The chimpanzee is clustered with the human in most of the phylogenetic trees thus obtained.

Molecular Systematics of the Trilliaceae sensu lato as Inferred from rbcL Sequence Data
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 1995In this paper, we examine the phylogenetic affinities of Trilliaceae sensu lato. DNA sequences of the rbcL gene were analyzed for 8 species from Trilliaceae sensu lato (Trillium kamtschaticum, T. sessile, Daiswa polyphylla, Kinugasa japonica, Paris tetraphylla, Scoliopus bigelovii, S.

A method for molecular phylogeny construction by direct use of nucleotide sequence data
Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1990A method for molecular phylogeny construction is newly developed. The method, called the stepwise ancestral sequence method, estimates molecular phylogenetic trees and ancestral sequences simultaneously on the basis of parsimony and sequence homology. For simplicity the emphasis is placed more on parsimony than on sequence homology in the present study,

The role of internal node sequences and the molecular clock in the analysis of serially-sampled data
International Journal of Bioinformatics Research and Applications, 2008Algorithms that infer phylogenetic relationships between serially-sampled sequences have been developed in recent years to assist in the analysis of rapidly-evolving human pathogens. Our study consisted of evaluating seven relevant methods using empirical as well as simulated data sets.

Pattern Recognition, 1993
Abstract The notion of probabilistic consensus structure, a probabilistic model satisfying certain domain constraints, is defined as a statistical relational graph inferred from an ensemble of sequences (or strings). The probabilistic consensus structure is a special form of random graph indicating both the statistical variation and the structural ...

Molecular phylogeny of Trichostomoideae (Pottiaceae, Bryophyta) based on nrITS sequence data
TAXON, 2005AbstractBayesian analysis of an alignment of 83 nrITS sequences belonging to 66 taxa of Pottiaceae revealed representatives of subfamily Trichostomoideae in a well supported monophyletic lineage. Two robust clades within Trichostomoideae include species of Tortella and Weissia, respectively.

Molecular Phylogeny of the Arenaviruses and Guide to Published Sequence Data
1993The arenaviruses are primarily viruses of rodents, although a minority of them cause serious disease in humans. They were originally grouped together on the basis of their appearance in the electron microscope (Dalton et al.,1968; Murphy and Whitfield, 1975) and serological cross-reactivity in complement fixation and immunofluorescence tests (Rowe et ...
