Molecular structure

Physics Today, 1960
About forty years ago, the Solvay Conferences were started in Belgium under the guiding influence of Peter Debye and other well-known European scientists. Those conferences have been most valuable throughout the years in stimulating fundamental research in physics and in chemistry. When The Robert A.

Molecular Structure of Thiourea

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2012
The molecular structure of thiourea has been investigated under C(s), C(2), and C(2v) symmetry constraints. At the coupled-cluster level in conjunction with a triple-ζ basis set, only the C(2) conformer has been found to be a real minimum on the potential energy surface.

Understanding molecular structure from molecular mechanics

Journal of Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 2011
Molecular mechanics gives us a well known model of molecular structure. It is less widely recognized that valence bond theory gives us structures which offer a direct interpretation of molecular mechanics formulations and parameters. The electronic effects well-known in physical organic chemistry can be directly interpreted in terms of valence bond ...

Molecular Structure of LSD

Science, 1972
The molecular configuration of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) in crystals of the iodobenzoate has been determined by using x-ray diffraction techniques. The configuration shows strain and steric hindrance and the conformation is fixed. Some of the implications of this for the hallucinogenic activity of LSD are discussed.

Structure of molecular liquids

Physical Review E, 1995
We present a method for calculating, by computer simulation, the direct correlation function c(1,2) for a molecular liquid in the form of a spherical harmonic expansion. This allows us to test, at the most fundamental level, predictions of the structure of molecular liquids using density functional and integral equation approaches.

Wavelets and molecular structure

Journal of Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 1996
The wavelet method offers possibilities for display, editing, and topological comparison of proteins at a user-specified level of detail. Wavelets are a mathematical tool that first found application in signal processing. The multiresolution analysis of a signal via wavelets provides a hierarchical series of "best' lower-resolution approximations.
