This chapter provides an overview of organic chemistry. Organic chemistry began as the chemistry of living things, like yeast, moulds, mushrooms, willow trees, and whales. It is based on the compounds of carbon, the molecules of which are the essence of organic chemistry. The chapter then looks at the ways in which atoms join together to form molecules.
