Seasonal Fattening Among Bat Populations Globally: Storing Energy for Survival in a Changing World
Bats fatten to cope in environments with seasonal energy shortages, gaining more weight in seasonally cold climates and in tropical climates with highly seasonal rainfall. In cold climates, females lost less weight than males during winter, supporting the ‘thrifty females’ hypothesis.

Acoustic identification of Mexican bats based on taxonomic and ecological constraints on call design [PDF]
1. Monitoring global biodiversity is critical for understanding responses to anthropogenic change, but biodiversity monitoring is often biased away from tropical, megadiverse areas that are experiencing more rapid environmental change.

Optimization of Genotype by Sequencing data for phylogenetic purposes
• Herein we propose a framework for assembling and analyzing Genotype by Sequencing (GBS) data to better understand evolutionary relationships within a group of closely related species using the mastiff bats (Molossus) as our model system.

ABSTRACT Bats are natural reservoirs for a diverse range of coronaviruses (CoVs), including those closely related to SARS‐CoV and SARS‐CoV‐2, making them crucial for understanding CoV genetics and zoonotic transmission. The exceptional bat diversity in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, provides an ideal setting to investigate CoV diversity and potential ...

New records and range extension of Promops centralis (Chiroptera: Molossidae)
We captured Promops centralis and recorded its echolocation calls in Bahía de Kino, Sonora, which represents the first record of this species for the state of Sonora, Mexico. Our new record extends the distribution of P. centralis at least 1,300 km northwest from the northernmost known locality, Cuautla, Jalisco.
