First Case Report of Mange in Molossus molossus (Chiroptera: Molossidae) Caused by Notoedres (Notoedres) yunkeri (Sarcoptiformes: Sarcoptidae) in Minas Gerais State, Brazil

Journal of medical entomology, 2020
There are many records of the family Sarcoptidae in bats. The species Notoedres (Notoedres) yunkeri has been reported only once, parasitizing a molossid bat in Panama. In the present study, we expand the occurrence of the species to Brazil.

Unusual lipid composition of erythrocytes from the insectivorous bat Molossus molossus

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1985
The lipid composition of washed erythrocytes from Molossus molossus and Molossus ater were studied. In comparison with other mammalian species, bat erythrocytes were characterized by very high cholesterol/phospholipid molar ratios, as well as by low sphingomyelin content.

The auditory cortex of the bat Molossus molossus: Disproportionate search call frequency representation

Hearing Research, 2009
The extent of the auditory cortex in the bat Molossus molossus was electrophysiologically investigated. Best frequencies and minimum thresholds of neural tuning curves were analyzed to define the topography of the auditory cortex. The auditory cortex encompasses an average cortical surface area of 5mm(2).

Purification of M5, a fibrinolytic proteinase from Crotalus molossus molossus venom that attacks complement

The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 1997
Crotalus molossus molossus (northern blacktailed rattlesnake) venom contains agents that affect blood coagulation. A fibrin(ogen)olytic proteinase, called M5, was isolated and purified from this venom by ion exchange chromatography in a two-step procedure.
