Molten salts bearing anion receptor

Chemical Communications, 2004
A series of organoboron molten salts prepared by hydroboration of allyl imidazolium type molten salts with various hydroborating reagents such as monobromoborane dimethyl sulfide complex, 9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (9-BBN) and mesitylborane, and subsequent anion exchange reaction exhibited selective cation transporting property with ionic conductivity ...

Molten-salt Reactors

Abstract Chapter 18 discusses the development of molten-salt reactors (MSRs) that were initially pursued by Alvin Weinberg at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, with the first MSR becoming critical in 1954. Advantages identified for MSRs included elimination of pressurization equipment that is required for water-cooled reactors and the ...

Metallic Colloids in Molten Salts

Science, 1969
Gold, silver, and silver iodide sols were prepared in mixed nitrate melts. Electron micographs of the gold and silver sols show particles smaller than 1 micron. The gold sols exhibit conventional absorption and scattering spectra. Both gold and silver sols show unusual stability.

Small-angle scattering from molten salts

Philosophical Magazine B, 1979
Abstract The partial structure factors S++, S+- and 5−in molten salts are considered at small wavenumber k and the following results are established : (i) the term of order k2 in S++ - S– is determined by the difference in partial volumes of the two ionic species; (ii) a term of order k3 arises in the Sys from the presence of van der Waals dipole ...
