Elucidating the Role of Surface Ligands on the Oxidative Etching of Au Bipyramids During Photothermia Using Liquid Cell Transmission Electron Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...

Toward Stable Multivalent Metal Batteries: Understanding the Interfacial Chemistry for Magnesium and Calcium Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Interphase chemistry governs the stability of multivalent metal batteries. We summarize state‐of‐the‐art developments in calcium and magnesium metal batteries by focusing on the correlation among electrolytes, interphase layers, and the electrochemical performance of corresponding metal anodes.

Recent advances and perspectives in carbon nanotube production from the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
Molten salt-based electrolysis of CO2 to a valuable carbon product is a promising method to overcome the excessive concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are one of the most favorable carbon nanomaterials.

Anodic dissolution of metals in oxide-free cryolite melts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The anodic behavior of metals in molten cryolite-alumina melts has been investigated mostly for use as inert anodes for the Hall-Héroult process. In the present work, gold, platinum, palladium, copper, tungsten, nickel, cobalt and iron metal electrodes ...

Curvature‐Tuned Friction at Electrified Ionic Liquid Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene curvature plays a key role in friction electrotunability at single‐asperity contacts lubricated by ionic liquids. A 9 nm radius yields stronger tunability than larger radii, with distinct friction coefficients at low and high loads indicating a shift in the slippage plane.

Progress in capture and electrochemical conversion of CO2 into high value-added carbon materials by molten salts

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
With the increasing emission of CO2,the harm to the environment is gradually increasing. Reducing CO2 emissions and reducing the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is a hot topic of current research.
