Effect of 135Xe and 135Xem Migration on Reactivity in Molten Salt Reactor

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu, 2022
Fissile material dissolved in the molten salt is employed in molten salt reactor(MSR), which circulates through the primary loop. Considering the flow characteristic of fuel in MSR, the neutron poison calculation model such as Xe is different from ...

Electrochemical behaviour of thorium(IV) in molten LiF–CaF2 medium on inert and reactive electrodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The electrochemicalbehaviour of the Th(IV)/Th system was examined in moltenLiF–CaF2medium on inert (molybdenum), reactive (nickel) and liquid (bismuth) electrodes in the 810–920 °C temperature range by several electrochemical techniques.

Mitigating Thermal Runaway in Lithium Metal Batteries With Flame‐Retardant Magnesium Hydroxide Nanocomposite Gel Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries are ubiquitous but pose significant safety risks especially with high‐energy‐density electrode materials. This study reports a nanocomposite gel electrolyte (NGE) with a flame‐retardant magnesium hydroxide (MH) matrix, which offers robust mechanical properties, high ionic conductivity, and enhanced thermal safety.

Fast Spectrum Molten Salt Reactor Options [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
During 2010, fast-spectrum molten-salt reactors (FS-MSRs) were selected as a transformational reactor concept for light-water reactor (LWR)-derived heavy actinide disposition by the Department of Energy-Nuclear Energy Advanced Reactor Concepts (ARC) program and were the subject of a preliminary scoping investigation.

The Future of Hydrogen‐Powered Aviation: Technologies, Challenges, and a Strategic Roadmap for Sustainable Decarbonization

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Hydrogen‐powered aviation offers a transformative pathway to zero‐emission flight by eliminating in‐flight CO2 emissions. Key considerations include propulsion systems (fuel cells and hydrogen combustion), cryogenic storage and insulation challenges, infrastructure and cost barriers, and supply‐chain constraints.

Characterisation of molten salts for their application to Molten Salt Reactors

open access: yesPAM Review Energy Science & Technology, 2019
Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs) are one of the six Gen (IV) reactor designs chosen by the Generation IV International Forum for further development. A key area of concern for MSRs is the selection of molten salt composition. Parameters such as heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and viscosity are essential to consider when selecting a salt mixture for use

Investigation of electrorefining of metallic alloy fuel onto solid Al cathodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This work concerned the electrorefining of UZr and UPuZr alloys on a solid aluminium cathode, in the LiCl-KCl eutectic melt containing U3+, Pu3+, Np3+, Zr2+ or Zr 4+, Am3+, Nd3+, Y3+, Ce3+ and Gd3+ chlorides. During constant current electrolyses, the use

Copper Contact for Perovskite Solar Cells: Properties, Interfaces, and Scalable Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Copper electrodes, as low‐cost, scalable contacts for perovskite solar cells, offer several advantages over precious metals such as Au and Ag, including performance, cost, deposition methods, and interfacial engineering. Copper (Cu) electrodes are increasingly considered practical, sustainable alternatives to noble‐metal contacts in perovskite solar ...

INTERNALLY COOLED MOLTEN-SALT REACTORS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1959
The initial and long-term nuclear characteristics of two internally cooled heteroingeneous graphite-moderated two-region molten-salt reactors were studied. The reactors have doubling times of 22.5 and 27.5 years. Methods of decreasing the doubling times by removing the Pa/sup 233/ from the core and by increasing the specific power of the reactor are ...

Phase change material integrated core–shell catalyst for in situ thermal control in methanol synthesis from syngas

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract A model‐guided core–shell catalyst design is presented for methanol synthesis, featuring a phase change material (PCM) core encapsulated by a Cu–Zn–Al2$$ {}_2 $$O3$$ {}_3 $$ (CZA) catalytic shell. The PCM enables in situ thermal management by absorbing reaction heat at its melting point, mitigates the kinetic decline at high temperatures and ...
