Reflectivity measurements on molybdenite
Economic Geology, 1967With reference to a paper published by J. H. Leow (see this Bibliography Vol. 31, No. 1, 12 E67-00463), it is pointed out that polishing produces a surface layer whose properties, such as reflectivity, may differ from theoretical properties of the same material.

Real Space Crystallography in Molybdenite
Nature Physical Science, 1973IN this letter we report further observations made during our development of a new electron diffraction technique, which was introduced under the title of ‘;Real Space Crystallography’;1. This technique involves the use of bend contour patterns, which are produced in thin domed or saucer-shaped foil specimens when an aperture is inserted in the back ...

Lime-scavenged reduction of molybdenite
Minerals Engineering, 1993Abstract Of the numerous approaches proposed during the past two decades for molybdenum extraction, a new route of considerable promise is the direct reduction of molybdenite in the presence of the potent sulphur scavenger lime. This paper presents an overview of the researches carried out on this subject in our laboratory.

Epitaxial deposition of silver on molybdenite
Surface Science, 1972Abstract Silver was found to deposit epitaxially on molybdenite at substrate temperatures from — 165°C to 625°C. The degree of epitaxy decreased with decreasing substrate temperature with rotations of up to 4°. Regions with hcp-type silver diffraction patterns were observed at low substrate temperatures.

Roasting Kinetics of Molybdenite Concentrates
Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 2009AbstractRoasting of MoS2 concentrate is an important step in the production of commercial molybdenum trioxide. The oxidation kinetics of two different molybdenum concentrates was investigated at temperatures from 440 to 640 °C. For both concentrates the oxidation is fairly slow and incomplete below 500 °C.

The Electrical Conductivity of Molybdenite
Physical Review, 1923Electrical conductivity of molybdenite (Mo${\mathrm{S}}_{2}$) as a function of voltage and temperature.---Measurements of the currents through narrow flat strips cut perpendicular to the crystallographic $c$-axis gave results for the range from 0\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} to about 200\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} C, in agreement with the

Band structural properties of MoS2 (molybdenite)
Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1980Abstract Semiconductivity and superconductivity in MoS2 (molybdenite) can be understood in terms of the band structure of MoS2. We present here the band structural properties of MoS2. The energy dependence of neff and exeff is investigated. Using calculated values of neff and exeff, the Penn gap has been determined.

Pelletizing of sulfide molybdenite concentrates
Russian Metallurgy (Metally), 2007The results of a pelletizing investigation using various binding components (water, syrup, sulfite-alcohol distillery grains, and bentonite) of the flotation sulfide molybdenite concentrate (∼84% MoS2) from the Mongolian deposit are discussed. The use of syrup provides rather high-strength pellets (>3 N/pellet or >300 g/pellet) of the required size (2 ...

Roasting Kinetics of Molybdenite Concentrates
2018Molybdenum is a refractory metal that has melting point at ~2610 °C. It has high modulus of elasticity even at elevated temperatures. Almost 80% of molybdenum is used as alloying element for ferromolybdenum. When added to steel, molybdenum increases strength hardenability, toughness, elevated temperature strength and corrosion resistance.
