Special cases in order statistics for the alternative parametrization of the Generalized Power Function Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science, 2018
This paper investigates the order statistics based on the moment-generating function for the Generalized Power Function Distribution for the two different forms of this distribution.

Heat and work fluctuations for a harmonic oscillator

open access: yes, 2012
The formalism of Kundu et al. [J. Stat. Mech. (2011) P03007], for computing the large deviations of heat flow in harmonic systems, is applied to the case of single Brownian particle in a harmonic trap and coupled to two heat baths at different ...

A PRSZT Registry Analysis of Prognostic Factors Influencing Survival and Relapse Rates After Second Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A second allogeneic (allo‐)hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT2) is a potential curative option for pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) following relapse after first allogeneic transplantation (HSCT1), but its efficacy is limited by high relapse rates and transplant‐related toxicity in highly pretreated ...

Estimation Methods of Theree Parameters Discrete Generalized Exponential [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Commerce and Social Sciences, 2010
This article presents the estimation methods of three parameters Discrete Generalized Exponential distribution. The two-parameter generalized exponential distribution was introduced by Gupta and Kundu (1999).

A max-type recursive model: some properties and open questions

open access: yes, 2018
We consider a simple max-type recursive model which was introduced in the study of depinning transition in presence of strong disorder, by Derrida and Retaux.

Smile Asymptotics II: Models with Known Moment Generating Functions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Probability, 2008
The tail of risk neutral returns can be related explicitly with the wing behaviour of the Black-Scholes implied volatility smile. In situations where precise tail asymptotics are unknown but a moment generating function is available we establish, under easy-to-check Tauberian conditions, tail asymptotics on logarithmic scales.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Open Markov Chains: Cumulant Dynamics, Fluctuations and Correlations

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
In this work we propose a model for open Markov chains that can be interpreted as a system of non-interacting particles evolving according to the rules of a Markov chain.

Statistics of work done in degenerate parametric amplification process

open access: yes, 2019
We study statistics of work done by two classical electric field pumps (two-photon and one-photon resonant pumps) on a quantum optical oscillator. We compute moment generating function for the energy change of the oscillator, interpreted as work done by ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...
