he Unimprovability of Moment Estimates
Theory of Probability & Its Applications, 2003Summary: Let \(\eta\) be a nonnegative random variable. \textit{A. M. Zubkov} [Obozr. Prikl. Prom. Mat. 1, 638--666 (1994; Zbl 0836.60014)] obtained upper and lower estimates for \({\mathbf P}\{\eta>0\}\) in the form of a ratio of determinants formed by moments of \(\eta\).

A method of spectral moment estimation
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1999The paper presents a new method that enables the authors to construct direct routines to estimate spectral moments of any orders. Accuracy analysis confirms high efficiency of the estimates. The feasibility of the method is tested for signal fading data acquired during observations of ionosphere multipath propagation.

Corrected-Moment Illuminant Estimation
2013 IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, 2013Image colors are biased by the color of the prevailing illumination. As such the color at pixel cannot always be used directly in solving vision tasks from recognition, to tracking to general scene understanding. Illuminant estimation algorithms attempt to infer the color of the light incident in a scene and then a color cast removal step discounts the

The estimation of moments: A technical note
Journal of Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics, 1989The calculation of several common pharmacokinetic parameters requires estimates of both the area under the curve of the concentration of the drug in a sampled fluid vs. time, and also the first moment about t = 0 of this area. It is proposed that the methods used to estimate these quantities should make consistent assumptions about the concentration of

Generalized Method of Moments Estimation
2008Generalized method of moments (GMM) refers to a class of estimators constructed from the sample moment counterparts of population moment conditions (sometimes known as orthogonality conditions) of the data generating model. GMM estimators have become widely used, for the following reasons: 1.

Estimating sexual dimorphism by method-of-moments
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1996Estimating the degree of sexual dimorphism is difficult in fossil species because most specimens lack indicators of sex. We present a procedure that estimates sexual dimorphism in samples of unknown sex using method-of-moments. We assume that the distribution of a metric trait is composed of two underlying normal distributions, one for males and one ...

The Existence of Moments of k-Class Estimators
Econometrica, 1980For the regression equation C = A,B + e where A is a p x q stochastic matrix whose elements are independently distributed and contemporaneously correlated with the elements of 8, the lth moment of the least squares estimator of (3 exists if and only if l < p - q + 1.

Even Point Estimation and Moment Estimation in Hermite Distribution
Biometrics, 1976Properties of newly proposed even point estimators, moment estimators, and zeroth frequency and the mean estimators of the parameters a and b of the Hermite distribution with probability generating function G(t) = Exp [a(t 1) + b(t2 -1)] are studied and their joint asymptotic efficiencies are compared over parameter space of interest.
