The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Precision measurements on δ CP in MOMENT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
As it is very promising to expect a discovery of CP violation in the leptonic sector, the precision measurement of the Dirac CP phase δ CP is going to be one of the key interests in the future neutrino oscillation experiments.

Probabilistic Naturalness Measure for Dipole Moments due to New Physics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
We introduce a probabilistic measure of naturalness (naturalness level) to fix naturalness bounds quantitatively. It is applied to the anomalous magnetic moments and the electric dipole moments due to new physics.

Precision Muon Physics

open access: yes, 2015
The muon is playing a unique role in sub-atomic physics. Studies of muon decay both determine the overall strength and establish the chiral structure of weak interactions, as well as setting extraordinary limits on charged-lepton-flavor-violating ...

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in

The Long Term Effects of a 12‐Session Community Exercise Program on Health Measures in Cancer Patients

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To assess the long‐term effects of a community cancer exercise program on quality of life, fatigue, weight, waist circumference, physical activity levels, lower extremity strength, body mass index (BMI), heart rate, and blood pressure, across non‐metastatic and metastatic patients.

Brief, embedded, spontaneous metacognitive talk indicates thinking like a physicist

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Physics Education Research, 2015
[This paper is part of the Focused Collection on Upper Division Physics Courses.] Instructors and researchers think “thinking like a physicist” is important for students’ professional development.
