Clinical applications of next‐generation sequencing‐based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

On moments of Cantor and related distributions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We provide several simple recursive formulae for the moment sequence of infinite Bernoulli convolution. We relate moments of one infinite Bernoulli convolution with others having different but related parameters. We give examples relating Euler numbers to the moments of infinite Bernoulli convolutions. One of the examples provides moment interpretation

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

Multiplierless discrete Fourier transform based on moments

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2009
A novel algorithm to perform Discrete Fourier Transform(DFT) multiplierlessly was proposed.First, by modular mapping and truncating Taylor series expansion, the DFT was expressed in the form of the product of the constants and discrete moments.Second, by

The Third and Fourth Moment of the Renormalized Intersection Local Time [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In this article we calculate the third and fourth moment of the renormalized intersection local time of a planar Brownian motion. The third moment is calculated anlaytically, the fourth moment numerically. For the closed planar random walk the third moment of the distribution of the multiple point range is also calculated in leading order.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

The teachable moment

open access: yesBritish Journal of Community Nursing, 2011
First paragraph: Unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, excess body weight and smoking account for half of all cancers, as well other types of serious illness (World Cancer Research Fund, 2009). Recent health behaviour surveys (Craig and Hirani, 2009; Robinson et al, 2010) indicate that the majority of people living in the UK are not meeting the Chief ...
