Contribution of Orbital Angular Momentum to the Nucleon Spin

open access: yes, 2017
We have calculated the Orbital Angular Momentum of quarks and gluons in the nucleon. The calculations are carried out in the next to leading order utilizing the so-called valon model.

Energy-momentum and angular momentum densities in gauge theories of gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In the $\bar{\mbox{\rm Poincar\'{e}}}$ gauge theory of gravity, which has been formulated on the basis of a principal fiber bundle over the space-time manifold having the covering group of the proper orthochronous Poincar\'{e} group as the structure ...

Electromagnetic momentum in a dielectric and the energy--momentum tensor

open access: yes, 2012
The Abraham--Minkowski momentum controversy is the outwardly visible symptom of an inconsistency in the use of the energy-momentum tensor in the case of a plane quasimonochromatic field in a simple linear dielectric.

Tidal dynamics and energy budget in the Gulf of California

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2000
The dynamics and energetic behavior of the tides in the Gulf of California were studied with their principal constituents. Three cases were chosen: the first included the M2 constituent; the second, the two principal semidiurnal constituents; and the ...

Spin-orbit coupling and the conservation of angular momentum

open access: yes, 2012
In nonrelativistic quantum mechanics, the total (i.e. orbital plus spin) angular momentum of a charged particle with spin that moves in a Coulomb plus spin-orbit-coupling potential is conserved.

Diffusive Propagation of Energy in a Non-Acoustic Chain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We consider a non acoustic chain of harmonic oscillators with the dynamics perturbed by a random local exchange of momentum, such that energy and momentum are conserved. The macroscopic limits of the energy density, momentum and the curvature (or bending)

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Spatial momentums

open access: yesInterstices: Journal of Architecture and Related Arts
A fixed and final architecture often follows the act of drawing, but what if architecture were to remain a drawing, with the vitality of an open sketch? Drawing brings performative gestures to life through records of its making—its traces. This research experiments with these traces, using their performative possibility to re-frame and alter ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
