Exclusive Measurements of $pd\to ^3He \pi\pi$ : the $ABC$ Effect Revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Exclusive measurements of the reactions $pd\to$ $^3He \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $pd\to$ $^3He \pi^0\pi^0$ have been carried out at $T_p=0.895$ GeV at the CELSIUS storage ring using the WASA detector.

Methyl on the Bridge: 2‐Methyl Propellane as Precursor for 1,3‐Substituted 2‐Methylated Bicyclo[1.1.1]Pentanes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The synthesis of 2‐methyl propellane and its conversion to various 1,2‐ and 1,2,3‐di‐ and trisubstituted bicyclopentanes is reported. Abstract Bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes (BCPs) have emerged as isosteric replacements for mono‐ and para‐substituted benzene rings in medicinal and materials applications, involving substitution at the BCP bridgehead (1,3 ...

The Discovery of Individuality. A Short History of Human Personal Identity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Human individuality is something that is taken for granted in our time. In fact, it has arisen anthropologically over long periods of time. Man is originally a collective being who has no identity outside of his collective - not least because nobody asks

Does Mobile Money Adoption Improve Dietary Quality? Assessing Household and Individual Level Impacts in Cameroon

open access: yesJournal of International Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mobile money—a digital financial service—has proliferated in many developing countries. Owing to its ability to reduce transaction costs and allow even the poor to be financially included, it has been widely adopted. While a growing body of literature has examined its welfare effects, its effects on diet quality of households and individuals ...

Ontological polyglossia: the art of communicating in opacity* Polyglossie ontologique : l'art de communiquer dans l'opacité

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
What do communicating with a baby, with an animal, and with an ancestor have in common? In all three cases, people engage in opaque communication that is far from the standard psycholinguistic model of transparent interaction based on shared intentionality.

Production of isoscalar pion pairs in the pd -> 3He pi pi reaction near threshold

open access: yes, 2000
The production near threshold of isoscalar pion pairs in the pd -> 3He(pi pi)^0 reaction is estimated in a two-step model which successfully describes the production of eta, omega and eta' mesons.

Nest Survival Models and Genomics Illuminate Hybridisation Attempts, Guiding Culturally Informed Management to Recover a Critically Endangered Seabird

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Long‐term monitoring has revealed hybridisation attempts between the Critically Endangered Kuaka Whenua Hou (KWH, Pelecanoides whenuahouensis) and the abundant Kuaka (P. urinatrix). Here we use modelling based on population monitoring data in tandem with genomic data to investigate these attempts and the risk they pose to KWH recovery.

On modeling chronic detachment of periphyton in artificial rough, open channel flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Periphyton communities, which are native to river beds, serve as a functional indicator of river health but remain one of the least-studied communities despite the significant increase in the examination of aquatic microbial communities in recent years ...
