Beyond species means – the intraspecific contribution to global wood density variation

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Wood density is central for estimating vegetation carbon storage and a plant functional trait of great ecological and evolutionary importance. However, the global extent of wood density variation is unclear, especially at the intraspecific level. We assembled the most comprehensive wood density collection to date, including 109 626 records from

Momo: Monocular motion estimation on manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE 20th International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2017
Knowledge about the location of a vehicle is indispensable for autonomous driving. In order to apply global localisation methods, a pose prior must be known which can be obtained from visual odometry. The quality and robustness of that prior determine the success of localisation.

Rethinking ‘Hill‐Valley Divide’ in Darjeeling District, India: An Autoethnographic Approach to Highland Identities

open access: yesStudies in Ethnicity and Nationalism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research examines the Hill‐Valley divide in Darjeeling district, West Bengal, India, where Nepali‐speaking hill communities coexist with Bengali‐speaking valley populations. It argues that this division is a colonial construct, shaped by British policies that romanticised the hills as a ‘mini‐England’ while separating them from the valley

Mahi ā Wānanga—A Mana Wāhine‐Led Collaboration to Co‐Construct Meaningful Research and Meaning from Research

open access: yesKōtuitui: New Zealand Journal of Social Sciences Online, Volume 21, Issue 1, March 2026.
Indigenous ways of sharing and developing knowledge survive in ceremony, songs, proverbs, storytelling and purposeful dialogues. Wānanga (space for knowledge sharing) is the epitome of traditional knowledge transmission—grounded in Indigenous practice and worldview, allowing for the co‐creation of new knowledge and passing down of inherited knowledge ...

Unconventional Secretion of Angiogenic Sonic Hedgehog–Containing Extra‐Large Extracellular Vesicles is Driven by PI3K–Rab18‐GDP Signalling

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 2, February 2026.
Human mesenchymal stem cells conditionally secrete sonic hedgehog (SHH)‐containing extra‐large extracellular vesicles (XLEVs) upon PI3K activation, which enriches the GDP‐bound form of Rab18. Rab18‐GDP drives perinuclear maturation and polarized vertical release of SHH‐XLEVs via Hsp90α‐ and nSMase2‐dependent mechanisms.

Diagnosing the Flocculation–Transport Dynamics of Suspended Particulate Matter Using a Two‐Class Population Balance Model and Bayesian Calibration

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The dynamics of suspended particulate matter (SPM) plays a crucial role in determining water quality, sediment transport, and biogeochemical cycles in inland, estuarine, and coastal water resources. Flocculation processes strongly influence the SPM dynamics via aggregation and breakage under various hydrodynamic and biogeochemical conditions ...

Differential peritoneal resident macrophage depletion and omental milky spot disruption after high versus low clodronate‐loaded liposome dose treatment

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 104, Issue 2, Page 139-149, February 2026.
In this study, we found that intraperitoneal injection of a high (standard) clodronate‐loaded liposome dose induced persistent peritoneal macrophage depletion, paralleled by marked inflammation and compromised omental integrity. Conversely, low liposome dose caused transient macrophage depletion, low inflammation and no omental alterations, ensuring ...
