Signals of change in the Campania region rainfall regime: An analysis of extreme precipitation indices (2002–2021)

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 30, Issue 6, November/December 2023., 2023
Recent changes in Campania (southern Italy) rainfall regime were analyzed through 11 extreme precipitation indices. The main results are: an increasing trend in precipitation intensity and in the frequency of occurrence of heavy rainfall events in autumn season in the northern sector of region and in the mountainous areas, a positive tendency of the ...

Temporal and spatial propagule deposition patterns of the emerging fungal pathogen of chestnut Gnomoniopsis castaneae in orchards of north‐western Italy

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 70, Issue 9, Page 2016-2033, December 2021., 2021
Rising temperatures and wind gusts increase the propagule deposition rates of the fungal plant pathogen Gnomoniopsis castaneae. Abstract Two chestnut (Castanea sativa) orchards of north‐western Italy were sampled with passive spore traps 35 times over 24 months.

Assessing the relative importance of managed crops and semi‐natural grasslands as foraging habitats for breeding lesser kestrels Falco naumanni in southeastern Italy

open access: yesWildlife Biology, Volume 2021, Issue 1, Page 1-10, 2021., 2021
Farmland habitats host important populations of several threatened bird species. So far, how to reconcile farmland management with the maintenance of viable populations of these taxa is a major challenge for conservation biology. Southeastern Italy hosts ca 7000 pairs of breeding lesser kestrels Falco naumanni, representing one of the European ...
