Cytological Studies on Monnina
Feddes Repertorium, 1967AbstractThree species of Monnina have been studied cytologically for the first time. The following chromosome numbers were found, M. brachystachya n = 9 and 2n = 18; M. dictyocarpa 2n = 40; M. rusbyi n = 10 and 2n = 20. Evolutionary trends in the genus are discussed.

Biphenyls and a xanthone from Monnina sylvatica
Phytochemistry, 1992Abstract Two novel biphenyls, 3′-hydroxy-4′,5-dimethoxy-3,4-methylenedioxybiphenyl and 3′,4′,5-trimethoxy-3,4-methylenedioxybiphenyl, and a known xanthone were isolated from the roots of Monnina sylvatica . The structures of the isolates were established by spectroscopic methods (UV, mass spewometry, 1 H and 13 CNMR, including homonuclear NOE ...

A Revision of the Venezuelan species of Monnina
Brittonia, 2008In continuation of his study of the genus Monnina (Polygalaceae), the writer has examined all the readily available Venezuelan specimens of it in several American herbaria, and the present paper summarizes what is known of the genus in Venezuela. On the basis of the material seen, there are ten species of the genus in this country, a somewhat smaller ...

Angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels from the pre-existing vasculature is of physiological and pathological importance. Substantial data over the last decade has implicated uncontrolled angiogenesis with various pathological states. Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) play a critical role in its regulation, and have become one of the ...

A Revision of Monnina Subg. Pterocarya (Polygalaceae) in Northwestern South America
Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden, 1993Three subgenera are currently recognized in the genus Monnina, which consists of approximately 175 species. This paper treats the systematics of Monnina subg. Pterocarya in northwestern South America. The subgenus is a naturally coherent taxon characterized by dry, samaroid fruits. It consists of ca.

Species of Monnina with names first published by Bonpland in Hebeandra (Polygalaceae)
TAXON, 1996SummaryEriksen, B.: Species of Monnina with names first published by Bonpland in Hebeandra (Polygalaceae). – Taxon 45: 631‐640. 1996. – ISSN 0040‐0262.Due to a misunderstanding new species of Monnina collected by Humboldt and Bonpland were described twice and under different generic names. In 1808 Bonpland described the genus Hebeandra to accomodate 16

NECTÁRIOS ESTIPULARES EM Monnina exalata A.W. BENN (POLYGALACEAE) [PDF]
Nodal glands are found in one third of the Polygalaceae genera and have valuable taxonomic, ecological and evolutionary significance. In Brazil, they occur in five of the eleven genera already registered The origin of the glands has been the subject of ...
