Monnina (Polygalaceae), a New World monophyletic genus full of contrasts
Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2023Abstract Endemic to the Neotropics, Monnina is the second largest genus of Polygalaceae, yet little is known about its phylogenetic history, biogeography, and morphological character evolution. To address these knowledge gaps, we conducted Bayesian and maximum likelihood (ML) analyses of nuclear ITS and plastid trnL–F regions to test the

Cytological Studies on Monnina
Feddes Repertorium, 1967AbstractThree species of Monnina have been studied cytologically for the first time. The following chromosome numbers were found, M. brachystachya n = 9 and 2n = 18; M. dictyocarpa 2n = 40; M. rusbyi n = 10 and 2n = 20. Evolutionary trends in the genus are discussed.

Flavonol glycosides fromMonnina sylvatica
Phytochemistry, 1991A new kaempferol triglycoside and three known kaempferol glycosides, among them two apiosides, have been isolated from the aerial parts of Monnina sylvatica. The structures were established on the basis of acid and enzymatic hydrolysis and spectral data (UV, 1H and 13CNMR, NOE difference measurements, D/CI and FAB-MS) of the isolates and of some ...

Stereospecific analysis of triglycerides fromMonnina emarginata seed oil
Lipids, 1972AbstractInMonnina emarginata seed oil triglycerides, more than two‐thirds of theS‐coriolic (13l‐hydroxy‐cis‐9,trans‐11‐octadecadienoic) acid occurs in position 3 (relative tosn‐glycerol). All but a trace of the remainder is in position 1.

Angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels from the pre-existing vasculature is of physiological and pathological importance. Substantial data over the last decade has implicated uncontrolled angiogenesis with various pathological states. Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) play a critical role in its regulation, and have become one of the ...

Species of Monnina with names first published by Bonpland in Hebeandra (Polygalaceae)
TAXON, 1996SummaryEriksen, B.: Species of Monnina with names first published by Bonpland in Hebeandra (Polygalaceae). – Taxon 45: 631‐640. 1996. – ISSN 0040‐0262.Due to a misunderstanding new species of Monnina collected by Humboldt and Bonpland were described twice and under different generic names. In 1808 Bonpland described the genus Hebeandra to accomodate 16
