The monocentric model and after [PDF]
SummaryVon Thünen's monocentric model is considered as one of the foundations of spatial economics. Most of its assumptions have been transfered from agricultural to urban space by New Urban Economics. This transposition gave new impetus both to the monocentric model and to urban economics.

This paper argues that centralized employment remains an empirically relevant stylization of midsize U.S. metros. It extends the monocentric model to explicitly include leisure as a source of utility but constrains workers to supply fixed labor hours. Doing so sharpens the marginal disutility from longer commutes.

The Panexponential Monocentric Model
Journal of Urban Economics, 2000Abstract We derive declining exponential rent and density functions for a monocentric city from a new set of assumptions, which place restrictions on commuting costs rather than on the demand for land. The utility function is Cobb–Douglas with unrestricted income expenditure shares for land and for the numeraire good.

Optimization of high-performance monocentric lenses
Applied Optics, 2013The recent application of monocentric lenses for panoramic high-resolution digital imagers raises the question of the achievable performance limits of this lens structure and of techniques for design optimization to approach these limits. This paper defines the important regions of the design space of moderate complexity monocentric lenses and ...

Renal Retransplantation: A Retrospective Monocentric Study
Transplantation Proceedings, 2008Approximately 10% to 20% of all annual renal transplantations are retransplantations and up to 20% of patients on waiting lists need a repeat kidney because of previous graft failure. The immunological risk is much greater among retransplanted patients than first-time kidney recipients.

EVLP: A Monocentric Five Year Experience
The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, 2017Up to 80% of the lung offered from brain dead donors are rejected by the transplant programs primarlily due to poor organ function. Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) is a valuable tool for the reassessment of marginal lungs before transplantationand could increase the pool of organs available.
