Intrauterine transfusion in monochorionic twins with parvovirus B19 infection: Evidence of intertwin blood exchange. [PDF]

open access: yesPregnancy (Hoboken)
Abstract Background Parvovirus B19 infection can cause severe fetal anemia. Management in monochorionic twin pregnancies is challenging due to placental vascular connections. Case We report a case of severe fetal anemia in both fetuses of a monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy following maternal parvovirus B19 infection.

Prenatal imaging phenotypes and outcomes of umbilical-portal-systemic venous shunts in singleton and twin pregnancies: A historical cohort study. [PDF]

open access: yesActa Obstet Gynecol Scand
This retrospective cohort compared umbilical‐portal‐systemic venous shunts in singleton and twin pregnancies. Type III was the most common subtype in singletons, whereas Type II was the most common in twins. Fetal growth restriction was more frequent in twins, but primary structural anomaly rates were similar.

Characteristics and outcomes of monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies complicated by selective fetal growth restriction with intermittent absent end diastolic flow. [PDF]

open access: yesPregnancy (Hoboken)
Abstract Introduction Monochorionic diamniotic twins with selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) are categorized based on the umbilical artery (UA) end diastolic flow (EDF) of the growth‐restricted fetus. While persistent flow abnormalities are attributed to placental insufficiency, intermittent flow changes are often attributed to anastomoses.

The management of Monochorionic Monoamniotic (MCMA) twin pregnancy

open access: yesMajalah Obstetri dan Ginekologi, 2023
HIGHLIGHTS • Monochorionic monoamniotic (MCMA) twin pregnancy has a significant risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality, including intrauterine fetal death (IUFD).

Society for Maternal‐Fetal Medicine Special Statement: Updated checklists for management of monochorionic twin pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yesPregnancy
Approximately 20% of twin pregnancies are monochorionic—either monochorionic/diamniotic (MC/DA) or monochorionic/monoamniotic (MC/MA). The management of monochorionic twin pregnancy involves several additional interventions beyond the routine management ...

Twin‐To‐Twin Transfusion Syndrome in Dichorionic‐Triamniotic Triplets Successfully Managed Without Fetoscopic Laser: A Management‐Focused Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Triplet pregnancies are rare (~0.1% of births) and often complicated by prematurity. When one placental unit is monochorionic, there is a risk of twin‐to‐twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a severe vascular imbalance affecting monochorionic gestations. We

Assessing an impact on perinatal outcome in monochorionic and dichorionic twin pregnancy complicated with discordant fetal growth

open access: yesАкушерство, гинекология и репродукция, 2021
Introduction. Multifetal pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality. Type of placentation and discordant fetal growth may be risk factors of adverse pregnancy outcomes.Aim: to compare an impact of dichorionic and ...

High risk of unexpected late fetal death in monochorionic twins despite intensive ultrasound surveillance: a cohort study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Medicine, 2005
BACKGROUND: The rationale for fetal surveillance in monochorionic twin pregnancies is timely intervention to prevent the increased fetal/perinatal morbidity and mortality attributed to twin-twin transfusion syndrome and intrauterine growth restriction ...
