Sexual dichromatism and assortative mating by multiple plumage color traits in wild Chestnut Thrush

open access: yesAvian Research, 2022
Sex differences in plumage color are common in bird species. Some bird species are regarded as sexually monochromatic in human visual systems, and in recent years, some species are found to be of cryptic (to human) sexual dichromatism by ...

Coloring Graphs Using Two Colors While Avoiding Monochromatic Cycles [PDF]

open access: yesINFORMS Journal on Computing, 2012
We consider the problem of deciding whether a given directed graph can be vertex partitioned into two acyclic subgraphs. Applications of this problem include testing rationality of collective consumption behavior, a subject in microeconomics. We prove that the problem is NP-complete even for oriented graphs and argue that the existence of a constant ...

Monochromatic Boxes in Colored Grids [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics, 2011
A $d$-dimensional grid is a set of the form $R = [a_1] \times ... \times [a_d]$. A $d$-dimensional box is a set of the form $\{b_1,c_1\} \times ... \times \{b_d,c_d\}$. When a grid is $c$-colored, must it admit a monochromatic box? If so, we say that $R$ is $c$-guaranteed.

About quantifying small color differences in digital images [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2020
We discuss aspects of the use and possibilities provided by three-color colorimeters or digital cameras in problems of detecting small color differences by computer vision methods.

Polychromatic speckle reduction in laser pico-projectors using stationary dual Hadamard diffusers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2014
Speckle from coherent light sources continues to be a limiting factor in the design and manufacturing of laser projectors. Utilizing diffractive diffusers has been an effective method for reducing monochromatic speckle contrast.

Study of Full-Color Multiplexed Transmission Holograms of Diffusing Objects Recorded in Photopolymer Bayfol HX

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
A wavelength multiplexing procedure for color transmission volume holograms of diffusing objects recorded in Bayfol® HX200 photopolymer is proposed. For the recording, three lasers of 442 nm, 532 nm and 633 nm, and a Spectralon® diffusing object were ...

Monochromatic subgraphs in randomly colored graphons [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2019
Let $T(H, G_n)$ be the number of monochromatic copies of a fixed connected graph $H$ in a uniformly random coloring of the vertices of the graph $G_n$. In this paper we give a complete characterization of the limiting distribution of $T(H, G_n)$, when $\{G_n\}_{n \geq 1}$ is a converging sequence of dense graphs.
