Hechtia mixtecana sp. nov. (Hechtioideae; Bromeliaceae), from Oaxaca, Mexico
Botanical explorations carried out in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, led to the discovery of a new Bromeliaceae: Hechtia mixtecana,which is here described and illustrated. The new taxon is compared with the morphologically similar Hechtia fragilis, Hechtia lyman‐smithii, and Hechtia minuta.

Plants can respond to this variation through plastic responses in individual organs, which are assumed to be coordinated among traits to support a coherent, adaptive strategy, maintaining plant growth in varying environments.

A survey and analysis of traditional medicinal plants as used by the Zulu; Xhosa and Sotho
A coded list of 794 traditional Zulu medicinal plants is presented with a key to the ailments concerned. Xhosa and Sotho usage of these plants is incorporated. Medicinal usage in the ptendophytes, gymnosperms. monocotyledons and dicotyledons is tabulated.
