Ultrastructure of the vitellarium of Ancyrocephalus paradoxus (Monogenea: Monopisthocotylea), with comments on the nature of the vitellarium in the Monogenea and related platyhelminth groups

Parasitology Research, 2012
Fine structural features of the vitelline follicles of the monopisthocotylean monogenean Ancyrocephalus paradoxus are revealed and compared with those of other monogenean species. As in other monogeneans, each vitelline follicle of A. paradoxus is composed of a single cell type, i.e.

Monogenea from freshwater fishes

1984
The Monogenea of the whole Oriental region are relatively poorly known. Yamaguti (1963) lists few species from the region. More recently some major contributions have been made to the systematics of Monogenea of freshwater fishes of Sri Lanka (Gussev 1963), India (Gussev 1976) and Malaysia (Lim 1979).

Spermatogenesis and Spermiogenesis in Microcotyle sp. (Microcotylidae, Monogenea)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1999
Ultrastructural observations of spermatogenesis and spermiogenesis in Microcotyle sp. a microcotylid monogenean parasite from the gills of Hypostomus sp., are described. The spermatogonia were irregularly shaped, forming a peripheral layer of cells; spermatocytes were larger than spermatogonia and a nuclear synaptonemal complex was observed; young ...

Taxonomy and biology of the monocotylidae (monogenea)

2022

Five of the 6 subfamilies (Calicotylinae, Monticelli, 1903, Decacotylinae Chisholm Wheeler & Beverley-Burton, 1995, Heterocotylinae Chisholm Wheeler & Beverley-Burton, 1995 and Merizocotylinae Johnston & Tiegs, 1922, Monocotylinae Taschenberg, 1879) are revised

Host Switch of Lamellodiscus elegans (Monogenea: Monopisthocotylea) and Sparicotyle chrysophrii (Monogenea: Polyopisthocotylea) between Cage-reared Sparids

Veterinary Research Communications, 2006
Sharpsnout bream (Diplodus puntazzo) has been used in Adriatic aquaculture for less than a decade, but the decreasing trend of rearing this species will probably result in its complete substitution by more exploited sea bream (Sparus aurata). Only two facilities still rear both fish species in neighbouring cages in monoculture.
