Megalocotyle trituba n. sp. (Trematoda: Monogenea)
The Journal of Parasitology, 1953Folda (1928) described Megalocotyle marginata from Sebastodes nebulosus, taken in Puget Sound, Washington, as a new genus and species. Both Price (1939) and Sproston (1946) not only accepted the genus as valid, but extended it to include two European species unlike the proposed species.

Oculotrema hippopotami (Trematoda: Monogenea) in Uganda
Nature, 1965Oculotrema hippopotami was described by Stunkard1 from material labelled ‘from the eye of a hippopotamus’, and presumably collected by A. Looss from a Nile hippopotamus in the zoological gardens, Cairo. This hippopotamus must have been taken to Cairo from the Sudan, or possibly from Uganda, because Hippopotamus amphibius has been absent from the River ...

Sharpsnout bream (Diplodus puntazzo) has been used in Adriatic aquaculture for less than a decade, but the decreasing trend of rearing this species will probably result in its complete substitution by more exploited sea bream (Sparus aurata). Only two facilities still rear both fish species in neighbouring cages in monoculture.

Evolutionary expansion of the Monogenea
International Journal for Parasitology, 1994The evolutionary expansion of the monogeneans has taken place in parallel with the diversification of the fish-like vertebrates. In this article the main trends in monogenean evolution are traced from a hypothetical skin-parasitic ancestor on early vertebrates.

Monogenea from freshwater fishes
1984The Monogenea of the whole Oriental region are relatively poorly known. Yamaguti (1963) lists few species from the region. More recently some major contributions have been made to the systematics of Monogenea of freshwater fishes of Sri Lanka (Gussev 1963), India (Gussev 1976) and Malaysia (Lim 1979).

Hox genes from the Polystomatidae (Platyhelminthes, Monogenea)
International Journal for Parasitology, 2009Hox genes form a multigenic family that play a fundamental role during the early stages of development. They are organised in a single cluster and share a 60 amino acid conserved sequence that corresponds to the DNA binding domain, i.e. the homeodomain.

A Review of Neoheterocotyle (Monogenea: Monocotylidae)
The Journal of Parasitology, 1994The monocotylid genus Neoheterocotyle Hargis, 1955 is reviewed and the type species N. inpristi Hargis, 1955 is redescribed and illustrated. Neoheterocotyle ruggierii Cheung and Nigrelli, 1983 is synonymized with N. inpristi. Horricauda Tripathi, 1959 is synonymized with Neoheterocotyle, and the species previously assigned to Horricauda are transferred

The Larvae of Monogenea (Platyhelminthes)
1999Abstract There has been no comprehensive review of the infective larval stage (oncomiracidium) in the direct life-cycle of monogeneans since Llewellyn (1963, 1968). In the last 30 years, knowledge of the general anatomy and morphology of oncomiracidia has increased significantly as has information on swimming behaviour and egg-hatching strategies ...
