Complete Mitochondrial Genome of <i>Gyrodactylus nigeri</i> (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea). [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
The fish Yunnanilus niger is the host of Gyrodactylus nigeri. The mitochondrial genome of G. nigeri is 14,903 bp in length. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that this species belonged to the genus Gyrodactylus and Gyrodactylidae forms an independent monophyletic clade within Gyrodactylidea.

Exploring the Parasite Biodiversity in Climbing Perch (<i>Anabas testudineus</i>) in Buriram, Thailand: Morphological-Based Characterization. [PDF]

open access: yesScientificWorldJournal
Anabas testudineus is an amphibious freshwater fish species native to Thailand, which is afflicted by protozoan and metazoan infections. This study was aimed at identifying the presence of parasites in A. testudineus from Thung Lam Natural Reservoir in Buriram Province, Thailand, between November 2022 and January 2023.

Intestinal Parasite Community Dynamics in the Critically Endangered Chinese Alligator (<i>Alligator sinensis</i>): Multifactorial Insights From 18S rRNA Amplicon Sequencing. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Our results firstly demonstrate the structure of parasite communities in A. sinensis and clarify how they are shaped by interacting ecological and management factors, providing critical baseline data for future research. ABSTRACT The intestinal parasite communities of vertebrates are shaped by complex interactions among biological, environmental, and ...

Contrasting Host-Parasite Population Structure: Morphology and Mitogenomics of a Parasitic Flatworm on Pelagic Deepwater Cichlid Fishes from Lake Tanganyika

open access: yesBiology, 2021
Little phylogeographic structure is presumed for highly mobile species in pelagic zones. Lake Tanganyika is a unique ecosystem with a speciose and largely endemic fauna famous for its remarkable evolutionary history.

Urocleidoides astyanacis n. sp. (Mongenva ancyrocephalinae) from frescwater characidians on the genus Astyanax Urocleidoides astyanacis n. sp. (Mongenea Ancyrocephalinae) de caracídeos de água doce do gênero Astyanax

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1988
A new species of Urocleidoides, U. astyanacis (Monogenea, Ancyrocephalinae) is described from the "lambari" Astyanax scabripinnis (Jenyns, 1842) and A. fasciatus (Cuvier, 1819).

Morphological and molecular characterisation of Tristoma integrum Diesing, 1850 (Monogenea, Capsalidae), including its complete mitogenome

open access: yesParasite, 2023
Capsalids are monopisthocotylean monogenean parasites found on the skin and gills of fish. Capsalines (subfamily Capsalinae) are large-sized capsalids, parasitic on highly prized gamefish, and species of Tristoma parasitise only the gills of swordfish ...

Amended diagnosis, mitochondrial genome, and phylogenetic position of Sphyranura euryceae (Neodermata, Monogenea, Polystomatidae), a parasite of the Oklahoma salamander

open access: yesParasite, 2023
Polystomatidae is a monogenean family whose representatives infect mainly (semi)-aquatic tetrapods. Species of Sphyranura Wright, 1879 exhibit ectoparasitism on salamander hosts, with molecular work supporting their inclusion within Polystomatidae, at an

Monogeneans from Pangasiidae (Siluriformes) in Southeast Asia: V. Five new species of Thaparocleidus Jain, 1952 (Ancylodiscoididae) from Pangasius nasutus

open access: yesParasite, 2003
The examination of gill parasites from Pangasius nasutus (Bleeker, 1862) (Siluriformes, Pangasiidae) revealed the presence of five new species of Monogenea, all belonging to Thaparocleidus Jain, 1952 (Monogenea, Ancylodiscoididae) as defined by Lim (1996)
