Taxonomy and biology of Diplozoidae (monogenea).

2023
The study is divided into two parts. The first considers the taxonomy of species of Diplozoidae in the British Isles and the world. The second investigates the biology of Diplozoon homoion in field and experimental conditions. As a result of an extensive literature survey, the distribution of species of Diplozoidae has been assessed.

On the evolution within the family Gyrodactylidae (Monogenea)

International Journal for Parasitology, 1998
On the basis of six main types of protonephridial systems in the genus Gyrodactylus and results from further studies of the protonephridial systems in other gyrodactylid genera and other monogenean families, evolutionary lines within the Gyrodactylidae and the origin of the genera Ooegyrodactylus, Swingleus, Gyrdicotylus and Polyclithrum are discussed.

Amino acids in eight species of Monogenea

Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde, 1977
The ethanol-extractable amino acids of several species of Monogenea were analysed. In the Monopisthocotylea levels were high ( greater than 1,200 micronmoles/g/ethanol extracted dry wt); in the Polyopisthocotylea lower amounts were present (196-562 micronmoles). High proline levels were present in parasites of hosts from a marine environment but low in

Taxonomy and biology of the Gyrodactylidae (Monogenea)

2022
The taxonomy of the Gyrodactylidae (Monogenea) from marine and freshwater fishes of the Australian continent is examined for the first time. New species are described for three known genera (Anacanthocotyle, Gyrodactylus and Polyclithrum) and a new, viviparous genus is also described.

Spermatogenesis and Spermiogenesis in Microcotyle sp. (Microcotylidae, Monogenea)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1999
Ultrastructural observations of spermatogenesis and spermiogenesis in Microcotyle sp. a microcotylid monogenean parasite from the gills of Hypostomus sp., are described. The spermatogonia were irregularly shaped, forming a peripheral layer of cells; spermatocytes were larger than spermatogonia and a nuclear synaptonemal complex was observed; young ...

Monogenea from freshwater fishes

1984
The Monogenea of the whole Oriental region are relatively poorly known. Yamaguti (1963) lists few species from the region. More recently some major contributions have been made to the systematics of Monogenea of freshwater fishes of Sri Lanka (Gussev 1963), India (Gussev 1976) and Malaysia (Lim 1979).

The oncomiracidium of Nasicola klawei (Monogenea: Capasalidae: Capsalinae)

Parasitology Research, 2006
The oncomiracidium of the capsaline Nasicola klawei (Monogenea: Capsalidae), adults of which were collected from the nares of the yellowfin tuna Thunnus albacares (Scombridae) caught off Nelson Bay on the east coast of Australia, is described. This is a new locality record for N. klawei.

Taxonomy and biology of the monocotylidae (monogenea)

2022
The Monocotylidae is a family of monogeneans parasitic exclusively on chondrichthyan fishes. Five of the 6 subfamilies (Calicotylinae, Monticelli, 1903, Decacotylinae Chisholm Wheeler & Beverley-Burton, 1995, Heterocotylinae Chisholm Wheeler & Beverley-Burton, 1995 and Merizocotylinae Johnston & Tiegs, 1922, Monocotylinae Taschenberg, 1879) are revised
