Penetration of Polymer Monolayers

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1972
Abstract Monolayers of polyvinylpyrrolidone copolymers interact more strongly with dissolved benzoic acid than with p -hydroxybenzoic acid. In bulk solutions of polyvinylpyrrolidone, the latter is more highly bound. This difference is ascribed to the highly oriented structure which polymers assume at interfaces.

Monolayers of Polyvinylpyrrolidone Copolymers

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1971
The surface properties of graft copolymers of polyvinylpyrrolidone and vinyl acetate were investigated. The vinyl acetate grafts anchor the copolymer to the surface. Compression forces the vinylpyrrolidone residues beneath the surface, imparting considerable flexibility and accounting for the high compressibility and low cohesion observed.

Faceting of monolayer domains

Colloid & Polymer Science, 2000
The formation of facets in domains of three monolayer systems, differing in molecular structure or headgroup charge, is observed by Brewster-angle microscopy under different experimental conditions. Arachidic acid forms faceted domains on increasing the pH of the subphase from pH 12.0 to 12.3 or by adding traces of cholesterol at pH 12.0. The degree of

Photoresponsive Dendritic Monolayers

Advanced Materials, 2000
Azobenzene derivatives are excellent candidates for optical switching systems, due to their facile and reversible photoisomerization. However, the chromophores are usually aggregated in Langmuir-Blodgett films, which suppresses this cis-trans isomerization.

A Simple Synthetic Strategy toward Defect‐Rich Porous Monolayer NiFe‐Layered Double Hydroxide Nanosheets for Efficient Electrocatalytic Water Oxidation

Advanced Energy Materials, 2019
In this work, porous monolayer nickel‐iron layered double hydroxide (PM‐LDH) nanosheets with a lateral size of ≈30 nm and a thickness of ≈0.8 nm are successfully synthesized by a facile one‐step strategy.

Stimuli-Responsive Monolayers

2013
The use of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) for the functionalization of surfaces is extremely widespread among the scientific community, because they are easy to prepare and thermodynamically stable. Inferior binding uniformity, packing density, and molecular alignment have recently been observed also for SAMs made of thioether-based tripodal ligands ...
