InGaAs FinFETs 3-D Sequentially Integrated on FDSOI Si CMOS With Record Performance

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2019
In this paper, we demonstrate InGaAs FinFETs 3-D sequentially (3DS) integrated on top of a fully depleted silicon-on-insulator CMOS. Top layer III-V FETs are fabricated using a Si CMOS compatible HKMG replacement gate flow and self-aligned raised source ...

Monolithic integrated Raman silicon laser

open access: yesOptics Express, 2006
We present a monolithic integrated Raman silicon laser based on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) rib waveguide race-track ring resonator with an integrated p-i-n diode structure. Under reverse biasing, we achieved stable, single mode, continuous-wave (CW) lasing with output power exceeding 30mW and 10% slope efficiency.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Colorless monolithically integrated 120° downconverter

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
We numerically demonstrate colorless reception of dense wavelength division multiplexed channels in the C-band for high-order QAM (16-64 QAM) signals on a 120° monolithically integrated downconverter, based on a 2x3 MMI with calibrated analog IQ recovery.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
