Thermally Induced Gelling Systems Based on Patchy Polymeric Micelles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
A novel strategy to design thermally induced gelling systems with tunable material properties is reported. Polymeric mixed‐shell micelles displaying multiple thermosensitive patchy domains formed hydrogels by assembling into well‐entangled worm‐like network structures upon heating to body temperature. The patchy micelle design significantly affects the

The Emerging 4D Printing of Shape‐Memory Thermomorphs for Self‐Adaptative Biomedical Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
4D printing enables the creation of smart implants that adapt to changing conditions in the human body over time. At the core of this technology are shape‐memory thermomorphs (SMTMs). This review offers an in‐depth analysis of 4D printing with SMTMs, emphasizing the latest advancements in smart materials, stimuli, programming principles, and their ...

Development of a Novel, All‐Aromatic High Tensile Modulus Liquid Crystalline Polyimide for Fused Filament Fabrication Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, high tensile modulus, fully aromatic thermotropic liquid crystalline polyimide (LCPI) with better solvent resistance and thermal stability is synthesized. Tensile specimens are fabricated using both injection molding and FFF processes, accomplished via lower viscosity enabled by the LC phase.

Relating monomer to center-of-mass distribution functions in macromolecular fluids: extension to arbitrary systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
In the framework of the polymer reference interaction site model (PRISM) extended to incorporate the centers of mass (CM) of the groups of monomers constitutive of the macromolecules as auxiliary sites, a general relationship between the monomer-monomer and CM-CM pair correlation functions is derived for arbitrary mixtures of macromolecules of ...

Crunching Biofilament Rings

open access: yes, 2014
We discuss a curious example for the collective mechanical behavior of coupled non-linear monomer units entrapped in a circular filament. Within a simple model we elucidate how multistability of monomer units and exponentially large degeneracy of the ...
