Guided waves in a monopile of an offshore wind turbine

We study the guided waves in a structure which consists of two overlapping steel plates, with the overlapping section grouted. This geometry is often encountered in support structures of large industrial offshore constructions, such as wind turbine monopiles.

Field experiments on instrumented winged monopiles

This paper presents the results of field tests performed to investigate the field behaviour of winged-monopile foundations. The principle of the winged monopile is that steel plates are attached to a standard monopile (in the area near the ground or seabed surface) to increase the foundation stiffness and lateral resistance.

The Reverse Approach for Monopile Scour

The present paper deals with the theoretical and numerical modeling of scouring and backfilling around an offshore monopile. Based on existing relations for the bed load and the bed update, and a new model for the sediment pickup, it demonstrates the possibility of computing the mean bed shear stress if the bed and bed update is estimated.

Scour Protection for Monopile by Concrete Plate

A test programme has been performed to determine the scour around a monopile for an offshore wind turbine. The foundation is protected against scour with a concrete plate with various designs. The tests should be regarded as pilot tests previous to a detailed investigation. The tests has been performed at Aalborg University.
