Transumbilical laparoendoscopic single‐site surgery versus conventional multi‐port laparoscopy for myomectomy: A large single‐center retrospective study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
This retrospective observational study compared clinical outcomes from patients who underwent transumbilical laparoendoscopic single‐site surgery (single‐site laparoscopy) or conventional multi‐port laparoscopy for myomectomy. Single‐site laparoscopy and multi‐port laparoscopy showed similar performance in terms of surgical safety.

Immediate intraoperative detrusor muscle status at primary transurethral resection of bladder tumour: a prospective, blinded, paired cohort, feasibility study using fluorescence confocal microscopy (IB1‐LaserComplete study)

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Objectives To evaluate ex vivo fluorescence confocal microscopy (FCM) for immediate detrusor muscle (DM) assessment during primary transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT). Patients and Methods This prospective, blinded, paired‐cohort feasibility study enrolled consecutive patients undergoing primary TURBT for suspected non‐muscle‐invasive ...

Cannabigerol reverses mechanical allodynia through α2A‐adrenergic modulation of thalamocortical signaling in chemotherapy‐induced neuropathy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Chemotherapy‐induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a prevalent and treatment‐resistant side effect of platinum‐based chemotherapy, characterised by mechanical allodynia. Cannabigerol (CBG), a non‐psychoactive cannabinoid, has shown antinociceptive potential, but its site and mechanism of action remain unclear.

Adjustable Vocal Implant System (VOIS) for Unilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis: Short‐Term Outcomes From a 12‐Patient Case Series

open access: yesClinical Otolaryngology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Unilateral vocal cord palsy (UVCP) significantly affects phonation and swallowing. While injection laryngoplasty and medialisation thyroplasty are effective, both may require revision. Vocal Implant System (VOIS; APrevent Biotech GmbH) is an adjustable titanium‐silicone thyroplasty implant that allows postoperative modification ...

A perspective on automated rapid eye movement sleep assessment

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Rapid eye movement sleep is associated with distinct changes in various biomedical signals that can be easily captured during sleep, lending themselves to automated sleep staging using machine learning systems. Here, we provide a perspective on the critical characteristics of biomedical signals associated with rapid eye movement sleep and how ...

Comparison of Outcome of Monopolar Diathermy Versus Harmonic Scalpel in Terms of Gallbladder Perforation in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

open access: yesJournal of Rawalpindi Medical College, 2019
Background : To compare the outcome (in terms of gall bladder perforation) of monopolar diathermy versus harmonic scalpel use during laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (LC) . Methods: In this randomized controlled trial 170 patients of both gender between

Comparison of muscle activity distribution in the biceps brachii using monopolar and bipolar multichannel surface electromyography.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The detailed distribution of muscle activity within the biceps brachii (BB) muscle during isometric contraction as contraction intensity increases is not yet fully understood using multichannel surface electromyography (EMG).

Sleep Preserves, Wake Differentiates: Strength‐Dependent Forgetting of Declarative Memories Across the Retention Interval

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sleep benefits memory, but the extend to which this benefit depends on initial memory strength remains heavily debated. We examined whether sleep preferentially stabilises weakly versus strongly encoded declarative memories, and whether classical sleep oscillations contribute to this effect.

Coronofrontal rhytidectomy: A new approach for the treatment of severe pseudoptosis and superior entropion in dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 403-412, March 2025.
Abstract Purpose To describe the use of coronofrontal rhytidectomy (CFR) for the treatment of severe pseudoptosis and superior entropion in dogs, and to provide guidelines for the selection of surgical technique depending on presentation. Methods A review of medical records of dogs that underwent rhytidectomy from 2002 to 2023 was carried out ...

Temporary caval occlusion technique during right divisional hepatectomy for massive hepatocellular carcinoma with caudal vena cava compression/involvement in dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To describe the perioperative and long‐term outcomes of dogs with massive hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the right hepatic division causing compression or involvement of the caudal vena cava (CVC) treated with right divisional hepatectomy using temporary caval occlusion (TCO). Study design Retrospective case series.
