We introduce the spiked monopole, which is a ’t Hooft-Polyakov monopole with two charged scalar Higgs fields, of which one enjoys a quartic self-interaction. The free Higgs field behaves as in a BPS monopole, reducing the inter-monopole repulsion.

AbstractWe review the theory of JNR, mass $\frac{1}{2}$ hyperbolic monopoles in particular their spectral curves and rational maps. These are used to establish conditions for a spectral curve to be the spectral curve of a JNR monopole and to show that the rational map of a JNR monopole arises by scattering using results of Atiyah.

The property and gravitational field of global monopole of tachyon are investigated in a four-dimensional static space–time. We give an exact solution of the tachyon field in the flat space–time background. Using the linearized approximation of gravity, we get the approximate solution of the metric.
