Human‐induced climate change is a driver of extinction, with extreme events occurring more frequently. It increases both the amount and fluctuations in environmental stress that organisms experience. In such environments, greater intra‐specific trait variation creates more potential for adaptation through natural selection.

AbstractLet G be a simple connected graph where every node is colored either black or white. Consider now the following repetitive process on G: each node recolors itself, at each local time step, with the color held by the majority of its neighbors. Depending on the initial assignment of colors to the nodes and on the definition of majority, different

Occupational licensing and income inequality in the states
Abstract The decades‐long rise of economic inequality in the U.S. has led to a growing body of literature examining the role of policy in shaping income differences. We examine one such policy: occupational licensing regulations. Licensing can restrict employment and reduce market competition, which can then inflate wages for those in licensed ...

On dynamic monopolies of graphs: the average and strict majority thresholds
Let $G$ be a graph and ${\mathcal{\tau}}: V(G)\rightarrow \Bbb{N}\cup \{0\}$ be an assignment of thresholds to the vertices of $G$. A subset of vertices $D$ is said to be a dynamic monopoly corresponding to $(G, \tau)$ if the vertices of $G$ can be ...

Abstract Near‐earth orbits are becoming congested because of a rapid growth in the number of satellites and space debris, which presents a real threat to the sustainable use of space and the safety of the Earth. Despite space scientists and public policymakers having been actively seeking solutions for decades, solving the problem has been put off ...

IER Lawrence Klein Lecture: the case against intellectual monopoly [PDF]
In the modern theory of growth, monopoly plays a crucial role both as a cause and an effect of innovation. Innovative firms, it is argued, would have insufficient incentive to innovate should the prospect of monopoly power not be present.
