Development of bimetallic spinel catalysts for low-temperature decomposition of ammonium dinitramide monopropellants

open access: yesDefence Technology, 2023
Ammonium dinitramide (ADN) based liquid monopropellants have been identified as environmentally benign substitutes for hydrazine monopropellant. However, new catalysts are to be developed for making ADN monopropellants cold-start capable.

Combustion Wave Structure of the Ammonium Dinitramide‐Based Ionic Liquid Propellant

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 48, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
Abstract The ammonium dinitramide‐based ionic liquid propellant (ADN‐based ILP), which is a mixture of ADN, monomethylamine nitrate (MMAN), and urea, is a low toxic monopropellant with a higher performance than that of hydrazine. To clarify the combustion wave structure of ADN‐based ILP, which has low volatility, we focused on the relationship between ...

Calculations of complex chemical reaction equilibria using stoichiometric and non‐stoichiometric approaches in combination with arc‐length continuation

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 4, Issue 10, October 2022., 2022
The article starts with a discussion of the stoichiometric and non‐stoichiometric methodologies, which are used in order to compute the chemical equilibria for complex reacting systems at fixed conditions. For each one of these two methodologies, author compares the equilibrium compositions obtained using several numerical techniques.

A Chemical Pump that Generates High‐Pressure Gas by Transmitting Liquid Fuel against Pressure Gradient

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 4, Issue 5, May 2022., 2022
Existing autonomous pneumatic soft robots have a stiff fuel tank to transport the fuel and inflate the actuator. Inspired by pit membranes in trees, a chemical pump decouples the pressures of the fuel tank and actuator, while the fuel is transmitted to the actuator against the pressure difference.
