Low fermentable oligosaccharide, disaccharide, monosaccharide, and polyol diet in patients with diarrhea‐predominant irritable bowel syndrome: A prospective, randomized trial

Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2021
Low fermentable oligosaccharide, disaccharide, monosaccharide, and polyol (FODMAP) diet improves irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms. Data on long‐term “modified” FODMAP diet are emerging.

Analysis of Monosaccharides

Current Protocols in Molecular Biology, 1995
AbstractThis unit presents methods for assaying sialic acids, reducing sugars, and hexosamines. The BCA assay detects free reducing terminii in sugars released from glycoconjugates by appropriate treatments. Assays employing Ehrlich reagent (DMAB) detect hexosamines and N‐acetylhexosamines, including a method for hydrolyzing the glycosidic linkages of ...

Sensory and Monosaccharide Analysis of Drip Brew Coffee Fractions versus Brewing Time.

The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2020
BACKGROUND The composition of drip brew coffee versus brewing time has been chemically characterized in previous studies, and it is known that the total dissolved solids (TDS) systematically decreases with each fraction during the brew.

Stimulation of Insulin Output by Monosaccharides and Monosaccharide Derivatives

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1958
The ability of various sugars and closely related substances to stimulate insulin secretion was studied by means of pancreatic-femoral cross-circulation experiments between hepatectomized donor dogs and normal recipients. In other experiments, the test substance was injected directly into the pancreatic artery of normal dogs.

Monosaccharides and monosaccharide derivatives in human seminal plasma

Journal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 1978
Gas chromatography--mass spectrometry with an on-line data system was used to identify monosaccharides and monosaccharide derivatives in human seminal plasma. The carbohydrates were converted into the methoxime-trimethylsilyl derivatives before separation in open tubular glass capillary columns coated with SE-30.

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of Modified Tuftsins Containing Monosaccharides or Monosaccharide Derivatives.

ChemInform, 1987
Synthesis of some modified tuftsins is described in which a monosaccharide or a monosaccharide derivative was incorporated in the molecule. Acylation of H‐Thr‐Lys(Z)‐Pro‐Arg(NO2)‐OBzl with D(+)‐gluco‐1,5‐lactone followed by catalytic hydrogenation gave Nα‐gluconyl‐tuftsin.

Comprehensive monosaccharide composition analysis of insoluble polysaccharides by permethylation to produce methyl alditol derivatives for gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.

Analytical Chemistry, 2019
Knowledge of the monosaccharide composition of plant and microbial cell wall polysaccharides is critical for the understanding of polysaccharide structure and function.

The Biosynthesis of the Monosaccharides

1956
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the biosynthesis of the monosaccharides. The biological origin of the forty or more monosaccharides occurring in natural products is not only of academic interest but also of value from its applicability to extracellular, enzymic synthesis. The monosaccharides are closely related, one to another, in their main
