Nonlinear stage of instability evolution in a monostable active medium

Technical Physics Letters, 1998
A theoretical analysis is made of the nonlinear stage of instability evolution in a monostable active medium described by a “reaction-diffusion” type equation. The boundary of that region of the medium in which instability develops propagates at constant velocity.

Theoretical analysis and experimental verification for improving energy harvesting performance of nonlinear monostable energy harvesters

Nonlinear Dynamics, 2016
Theoretical analysis and experimental verification of nonlinear monostable energy harvesters are presented to enhance energy harvesting performance from low-level ambient vibrations. Harmonic balance analysis of these harvesters demonstrates that there are two stable orbits (high-branch orbit and low-branch orbit) in a specific multi-solution range ...

Asymptotic Behavior of Solutions for a Free Boundary Problem with a Monostable Nonlinearity

East Asian Journal on Applied Mathematics
A free boundary problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions is studied. Such problems can be used for describing the spread of chemical substances or biological species, which live in a moving region [0,h(t)]. In this case, the free boundary h(t) represents the spreading front.

A nonlinear and asymmetric monostable compliant ortho-planar spring piezoelectric vibrational energy harvester using a H-I structure

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical
This paper proposes a compliant ortho-planar spring piezoelectric vibrational energy harvester (COPS-PVEH) using a H-I structure that exploits a nonlinearity and an asymmetric mono-stability to enhance the bandwidth of the device. The main structure is based on a double clamped beam (I-structure) coupled with four cantilever beams (H-structure) and an ...

Theoretical and Numerical Investigation of the Nonlinear “V” to “U” Typed Monostable Energy Harvester Under Random Excitation

Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics
Abstract A vibration energy harvester, an electromechanical system, can capture energy from ambient vibration and convert it into electricity for low-powered sensors. It is inevitable that the random noise would have a considerable effect on the output power of the harvester.
