Natural Toolbox–Chemical Engineering Aspect and High‐Value Applications of Janus Cellulose Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Tai Ji symbol from China represents the co‐existence of two opposite substances, similar to quantum entanglement. The term Janus comes from ancient Roman religion and mythology. Janus, the god of beginnings, transitions, etc., has two faces, symbolizing duality. Janus cellulose nanomaterials show structural duality.

Piezo1 Activation Improves NSCLC Liver Metastasis Immunotherapy by Overriding Matrix Stiffness‐Mediated Bimodal PD‐L1/CXCL10 Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Piezo1 activation enhances FAK‐YAP‐mediated upregulation of PD‐L1 and CXCL10, thereby promoting an immunotherapy‐responsive tumor microenvironment in NSCLC. Cyclic stretch modulates the PD‐L1/CXCL10 response to ECM stiffness, reshaping their expression dynamics.

Harnessing Bifunctional Nitrogen‐Dislocation Interactions for a Record Ultra‐Strong‐and‐Ductile Duplex Titanium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By engineering bifunctional nitrogen‐dislocation interactions, this work constructs a heterogeneous lamellar structure with N‐rich low‐angle boundaries and coherent nanotwinned martensites, enabling ultrahigh yield/tensile strength (1532/1869 MPa) and activating massive dislocations via stress‐driven bow‐out/cross‐slip.

Anomalous Glassy Thermal Conductivity in a Perovskite Bismuthate Induced by Structural Dynamic Instability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Unraveling the underlying mechanisms at the origin of ultra‐low thermal conductivity in pristine crystals is of central relevance to designing new functional materials. Single crystals of the candidate functional material BaBiO3 show an anomalous glassy thermal conductivity, which reveals the role of strong anharmonicity and additional scattering ...
